A Message From Mr Smith

Welcome to Papakowhai School.

Papakowhai is an excellent school. We believe in high expectations for student achievement and working together to find solutions where there are difficulties. Teaching and learning environments are child-centred and inclusive.

Papakowhai is a place for that encourages innovation, inquiry and curiosity. We want children at Papakowhai School to think critically, creatively and reflectively about what they are learning.

We value the diversity of our community and encourage language learning and exploring a range of cultures and traditions. All cultures are valued, particularly Māori as tangata whenua.

Papakowhai is a school that believes in equity and fairness. Integrity and respect are actively promoted through social skills regularly taught in classrooms.

Community participation is very important to us at Papakowhai. We have an active Home and School Committee and we value the high level of support that our parents give us for EOTC activities.

These values require a commitment to a strong and trusting three-way relationship between families, the school and students. We believe the adults and senior students in our school need to be role models of our values.

We have a motivated and forward thinking Board that is committed to policies ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all. It is also committed to its role of stewardship for the community’s aspirations for its children.

We have an open door policy at Papakowhai School and I value parents being in contact about how we can best meet the learning needs of their child. Please ring me on (04)233-8321 or email me at mark@papakowhai.school.nz if there are any issues you would like to discuss.

Kind regards

Mark Smith
